Established in 2011, 50 South Surf Shop has aimed to serve the community of Topsail Island and Surf City, NC with the best customer service around.

“It was my lifelong dream to own a surf shop. A dream planted in me by Tommy Morrow of Atlantic Beach Surf Shop. Shortly after moving to eastern North Carolina at age 10, I started skateboarding and learning to surf. I saved up $50 and walked into AB surf shop. Mr Tommy took time to explain boards to me and taught me how to wax up my “New” 7′ Sunshine single fin. He always treated me with respect and I never forgot that. 

Over my teen years I surfed Cape lookout, Shakleford Banks, Fort Macon, Iron Steamer and Bogue Inlet pier. Then Later migrating to Topsail Island and surfing County line, Scotch Bonnett and Ocean City. 

It took many years but after my kids grew up I finally set my dream to reality and opened 50 South in the Spring of 2011. Lisa and I have been blessed over these past few years to make a positive impact here on Topsail. We hope you will stop by and check us out!”
